We are living in some strange times where image is everything, especially in the world of media. Relative to my experience in this Doucheworld there is such a lack of depth to many public figures, because we focus too much effort on liking instead of wanting to respect them. The stupidity of the American Public has intoxicated so many media outlets to focus their entire camera angles on good looking people such as well spoken bull-shitters or celebrity train wrecks, it’s as if High School never ends! Perception is everything and unfortunately it has infected the Olympics on the World Stage. The Opening Ceremony for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing reaffirms why we truly live in a Doucheworld.
The Chinese substituted a prettier girl to sing the closing anthem of the opening ceremonies, instead of the one who actually sang. This girl was only used to be seen not heard. The real singer, Yang Peivi, who won a grueling singing competition to perform the song, “Hymn to the Motherland,” was rejected from performing the song because “of her buck teeth.” Buck Teeth! Wow a 7 year old adolescent girl who has buck teeth, but an unbelievable voice could not perform for her country, because she didn’t have the image China wants. The prettier girl, Lin Miaoke, was allowed to give interviews for her “flawless” singing and was recognized for her fake singing, while Yang will focus her efforts on being as attractive as possible since the lesson she learned was the way you look is what matters most.
